CARROLLTON - There were plenty of top Georgia Bulldog commitments and targets in West Georgia this past weekend competing in the Atlanta Under Armour Camp.
One of the biggest prospects was Grayson (GA) linebacker, Tyler Atkinson.
Just a sophomore, the 6-foot-3 205-pound outside linebacker dominated once again, showing why he’s one of the nation’s top pass-rushers from any classification.
Georgia offered Atkinson early in the process and sources say they sit in a very good spot for the elite in-state defender. In fact, Atkinson said the same thing after his impressive Under Armour performance.
“Georgia sits very high on my list right now’, Atkinson told Dawg Post. “The Georgia staff is amazing. Coach Smart and coach Schumann are great and I love the way they treat me over there.”
Atkinson is no stranger to Athens and was back in the Classic City at the end of January to watch the Bulldogs play basketball with some Georgia coaches.
The pass-rushing machine had a lot of other good things to say about the Dawgs and why they sit high on his list right now.

According to FanDuel, the Atlanta Braves have +250 odds of winning the National League in 2024.
“It’s all about work at Georgia”, Atkinson added. “Everybody wants to go to Georgia, so for them to embrace me the way they have has meant a lot. Coach Schumann is the coach I have the best relationship with. I love the way he studies the game and uses his linebackers. They want me to play both inside and outside and use me in a lot of different ways.”
Atkinson knows all about one former Bulldog pass-rusher who attacked the quarterback while wearing the red and black. One of Georgia’s best pass-rushers of the last 20 years, Sugar Bowl champion Marcus Howard, has been training Atkinson for years now.
Howard certainly knows how to rush the quarterback, and he’s making sure other peach-state defenders can do the same. Atkinson is a natural pass-rusher due to his length, athleticism, and explosiveness of the snap, but working with Howard, you can expect Atkinson’s game to get better and better over the next two years.
Once a young, lean defender with an insane amount of hype surrounding him coming into high school, Atkinson has turned into a physically gifted, fundamentally sound defender who can stop the run and rush the quarterback as well as anyone in the peach state.
This dynamic defender is coming off a tremendous sophomore season for the Rams where he made 197 tackles, 25 TFLs, and 10.5 sacks.
His best football is still way ahead of him, and that’s a scary thought for opposing tackles in the 7A class. Atkinson has more than lived up to the hype through his first two seasons at Grayson and is now ranked as the No. 14 overall prospect in the country for the 2026 class.
