ATHENS - To win national championships, it’s important to have an elite defensive line.
Kirby Smart and the ‘Dawgs had that win they won two consecutive national titles in 2021 and 2022, but it’s hard to call the 2023 defensive line “elite”.
Will that group be elite in 2024? Time will tell, but there’s plenty of elite talent on the way.
The Dawgs signed six defensive linemen in the 2024 class, and they already have one of the nation’s best on the commit list for the 2025 class.
That would be five-star Justus Terry.
A dominant 6-foot-5 275-pound lineman who already looks like a body-builder, Terry is a physically gifted prospect with eye-opening strength for his age. The Manchester (GA) standout is a true game-changing defender who is currently ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect in the country.
Terry, who committed to Georgia over a year ago, was in Athens earlier this month with his recruiting hat on.
“My favorite part of the visit was my sit down conversation at the basketball game with Coach Kirby and Elijah Griffin”, Terry said. “Since day one Georgia has always been honest with me about their expectations for the future. The advice they give me throughout the season on things I can do better to prepare me for the next level has always meant a lot to me.”
Of course, Terry spent a lot of time with another 5-star lineman in Savannah Christian Prep (GA) star Elijah Griffin.
“We’re cool”, Terry told Dawg Post. “Every time I see him I tell him he needs to go ahead and commit to Georgia. I definitely believe we’d dominate next to each other.”

According to FanDuel, the Baltimore Ravens are 3.5-point favorites to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship next Sunday.
As a prospect, it’s easy to see why Terry has 5-stars next to his name. A physically imposing defender, Terry looks like a professional wrestler already with a muscular frame. Terry was a bully in the middle of Manchester’s defensive line all season long, shredding blocks with ease and making play after play in the backfield.
His quickness off the ball is impressive for his size and he has the ability to blow up any particular play if not double-teamed. He’s tough to knock backwards, making him tough to handle for anyone in one-on-one situations. He looks like a 5-star and played like one during his junior season, making 78 tackles, six TFLs and 13 sacks. He also forced two fumbles and recovered two more.
Terry is ranked as the No. 2 DL prospect, the No. 2 prospect in Georgia, and the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2025 class.
