ATHENS - The timing of Nick Saban’s departure from Alabama was a surprise, but the announcement wasn’t stunning news for insiders surrounding UGA Football and the rest of the SEC. 

Saban’s move leaves UGA football quite clearly at the top of the SEC - it remains to be seen if anyone in the new 16-team league will join them.
