ATHENS - Kirby Smart’s UGA football team has landed a big-time playmaker from the transfer portal.
That would be former Vanderbilt receiver London Humphreys.
Not sure who he is? He's the Vandy player that opened up the 2023 UGA game with a 49-yard touchdown against the Dawgs.
The big, speedy 6-foot-3 190-pound wideout is exactly what the Georgia staff is looking for at receiver. An excellent overall athlete with great size, Humphreys’ speed and burst down the field is what led to an impressive freshman season for the Commodores.
Just a three-star prospect out of high school, the Nashville native was ranked as the No. 66 WR prospect in the 2023 class and the No. 13 prospect in Tennessee. However, he certainly outplayed his three-star ranking this past fall as he caught 22 passes for 439 yards and four touchdowns. As mentioned above, one of those touchdowns came against the Dawgs when he took off for a big 49-yard touchdown score, running away from Bulldog defenders as he crossed the goal-line.
He shows reliable hands and can create separation from defenders. He can also help create explosive plays down the field while providing a physical presence on the perimeter in the run game.
There’s a lot to like about his game, and the Bulldogs made a move to get Humphreys’ attention the minute he entered the portal. Now, the promising pass-catcher has “Committed To The G”.
As we saw last year with Dominic Lovett and Rara Thomas, if you come to Georgia out of the transfer portal, it’s because the Georgia staff thinks you can make an immediate impact. With multiple Bulldog receivers likely heading to the NFL, look for Humphreys to climb up the depth chart sooner than later once he gets to Athens.

Right now, the Georgia Bulldogs have +9000 odds to win the SEC Regular Season Title this upcoming season according to FanDuel.
Started in 2018, the NCAA's transfer portal was started to help the process of players seeking to transfer to other schools. Players have to inform Georgia of their intent to leave, and then UGA has two days to enter that player's name into the system. Once that happens the player can be recruited by other schools and start the process of contact and visits.
The portal is open for football from Monday, December 4th until January 17, 2024, but the vast majority of high-level transfers are expected in December. According to the NCAA, 1,833 players entered the transfer portal at the FBS level of college football in 2002.
