ATLANTA - Kirby Smart and his UGA Football program are set for a giant battle against Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game.
One thing that is clear is that there is a lot on the line for both teams in this game. Something that has not been very clear is what the status is on a few of the injured Georgia players.
On offense, Brock Bowers, Ladd McConkey, Rara Thomas and Tate Ratledge all missed the Georgia Tech game due to various injuries. Bowers and Ratledge dressed out, while the other two were not in uniform.
Signs are pointing towards these players being out there on Saturday, but there is one player who has had a roller coaster ride with injuries this season. McConkey (along with Thomas) was ruled “day-to-day” by Smart earlier this week.

Smart made an appearance on ESPN’s College Gameday this morning and the first thing he was asked was about if Carson Beck was going to have all of his weapons. Here is what he had to say:
“Hopefully he (Carson Beck) has some guys to help him out there, more guys healthy, but I don’t know if that’s gonna happen or not, so, it could look a little like Georgia Tech,” Smart. “It could look a little different depending on how the warmups go.”
Out of the four previously mentioned names, it seems like Bowers is the best bet to be on the field. The worst would probably be McConkey. He dealt with the back issues earlier this year that left him “day-to-day,” and now it is his ankle that is giving him that same designation.
If Smart was being truthful in the uncertainty of their status, then McConkey and others may truly be a gametime decision to play.
