TAMPA - Kirby Smart is standing behind offensive coordinator Mike Bobo.
Of course that’s not surprising after Bobo received another contract extension this summer.
While some Georgia fans are still skeptical, Smart firmly believes he has the right man in charge leading the Bulldog offense in 2026.
That group was far from perfect last fall, but they were efficient. In fact, they were elite in some areas including time of possession, red-zone offense, and the ability to run the football effectively in the 4th quarter.
However, there are still question marks around Georgia’s wide receivers, the left tackle position, and their ability to be more explosive.
Smart had a chance to stand behind his offensive coordinator during SEC Media Days this week and took full advantage of the opportunity.
“I look at things through facts, and I look at things through what I see with my own two eyes. I was blessed to work for the greatest college football coach in the history of all of college football. I learned from him that you evaluate things from inside out, and I do think football intuition is one of my strengths. Knowing that, I know we’ve got the right offensive coordinator. What you guys want to write and talk about is completely up to you, because I look at the production he's had, the success he's had, the team's success where he doesn't worry about stats. He worries about winning football games, and the way he coaches our players day to day is unmatched.”
DON’T FORGET YOUR FANDUEL BETS!!
According to FanDuel, the Chicago Bears have +108 odds to make the NFL Playoffs next season.
Yes, Georgia’s offense came up short in the Sugar Bowl. They had a chance to win the game and simply didn’t get the job done. Still, there’s a lot to like about what the Georgia Bulldogs did in 2025.
Now, it’s important the staff continues to improve. Mike Bobo needs Gunner Stockton to be better. But for that to happen, Mike Bobo needs to keep improving as well. He’ll need to adapt the scheme and create opportunities for his players to hit more explosives down the field.
Bulldog quarterback Gunner Stockton had a lot to say about his play-caller on Tuesday.
“I think he gets the best out of everyone. He's the best play caller in the country.”
"A lot of people that have criticism don't get to see the day in, day out work that Coach Bobo does. He barely sleeps during a game week. They don't see all the work he puts in, the love he has for the university, the love he has for me and my teammates."
Kirby Smart is all-in on Mike Bobo. Gunner Stockton is too. With a big season on offense, maybe more Georgia fans will jump back on board soon.
