Delta Airlines Honors Vince Dooley - Sends Georgia Bulldogs To Los Angeles

ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are playing for a second-consecutive national championship, and everyone is getting involved.
That includes Delta Airlines. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, Delta is one of the oldest airline operations in the world.
Now, they’re flying the 2022 SEC and Peach Bowl Champions out to Los Angeles, California for their big CFP national championship game against TCU. They’ll be honoring the late Vince Dooley in the process with his signature being flown on the plane.
The legendary Bulldog coach, who led Georgia to a national championship in 1980, died peacefully at his home in the presence of his wife and their four children on October 28th at the age of 90.
A member of the College Football Hall of Fame, as well as the Georgia and Alabama Sports Halls of Fame, Dooley is Georgia’s winningest football coach with 201 victories, six SEC titles and the 1980 national championship in his 25 years leading the Bulldogs (1964-88). He was also the recipient of numerous awards for his service as director of athletics over a 25 year tenure (1979-2004).

The game will be the third College Football Playoff National Championship Game appearance for the Bulldogs. It is TCU’s first. Georgia beat Alabama last year in Indianapolis to capture the program's first national title since 1980. The 33-18 win over the No. 1 Tide was the first time Kirby beat Nick Saban and the Tide in his tenure as head coach.
The two programs faced off for the national title in 2017, with Alabama pulling off an improbable 26-23 win over the Dawgs in overtime.
