ATHENS - The Georgia Bulldogs released exclusive audio of Kirby Smart talking with his team after the 42-41 win over No. 4 Ohio State in the Peach Bowl.

The 42-41 win over Ryan Day and the Buckeyes was watched by more than 22 million viewers ESPN said Monday - making it the most-watched game of the season. It propelled the Dawgs to the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship Game in Los Angeles to take on Sonny Dykes and the TCU Horned Frogs.

“They say to have composure is hard to do on an island. We have connection - takes care of that problem,” Kirby told his team before the game. “Pull out the composure card when you need it. It ain't going to be perfect. I love this team. I love every one of you guys. You have given a ton to this program, and a ton to each other. This game is about making it personal.”

Tight ends coach Todd Harley emphasized with his group that the game was about playing for one another.

“Can I tell you something?” he asked his position group as they gathered before the game. “I love each of you guys - ok? I love y'all like family; Like a son, and y'all know it. That's what it's about about. Tonight it is about love for your brother; it is about making it personal. It is about the connection and the composure we have in our program.”

Co-defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann had a premonition the game would be a long one.

“They have to deal with us until the New Year,” he said. “They have to deal with us until midnight. We say sixty minutes, or however long it takes. I hope it takes longer than that because they are going to deal with us - 1 (AM), 2 (AM) as long as it takes they are going to have to deal with us.”
