ATHENS - No. 2 Georgia football was listed as a very small favorite to topple No. 6 Alabama in Tuscaloosa Saturday night.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 38-14 win over Vanderbilt. Alabama demolished Mississippi State 56-23 on the road. This marks the seventh time in a row the Bulldogs have been favored over the Tide. Georgia has managed to only win two of the previous six meetings over Alabama.

But the last time the two teams met, in Atlanta at the 2025 SEC Championship Game, Georgia beat Alabama 28-7.

Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs are listed as 2.5-point favorites to win Saturday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The over/under for the game is 53.5. The Georgia-Alabama line was released earlier this summer, and it was nearly always in the range of Georgia being a three-point favorite.

The Bulldogs are listed as virtual co-favorites to win the national title with Ohio State and Notre Dame. Gunner Stockton is coming off one of his best performances, Kirby told reporters after the game.

“I thought Gunner did an outstanding job with execution, played probably his best game,” he said.

Stockton said the Bulldogs will have to have a good week of practice to get ready for the Tide.

“Any time you go on the road - definitely in Alabama you have to be able to execute and communicate at a high level,” Stockton said. “But it starts with having a good week of prep and doing that. I think definitely just the little details of us in the walkthroughs and meetings that we do all during the week, and definitely a bunch of stuff out there today that we need to clean up. But just being intentional with it.”

The Bulldogs are now 5-0 on the season and have won every game by at least 20 points. Kirby Smart has his team locked in and have played as well as any team in the country through the first five weeks of the season.
