ATHENS - As crazy as it sounds, Georgia’s big Peach Bowl win over Ohio State was less than 48 hours ago. The Bulldogs won a wild game in Mercedes Benz Stadium, and now it’s time to “see the doctor”.

That’s what Kirby Smart said to the ESPN Gameday crew on Monday morning as he talked about Georgia’s big Peach Bowl win and the health of his team after such a tough victory.

“We have to come in today and see the doctor and get some stuff fixed”, Smart said.

For the second-consecutive game, the Bulldog secondary got picked on. Against LSU in the SEC championship game, the Bulldogs gave up 502 yards through the air. Then came CJ Stroud and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Like Garrett Nussmeier, Stroud was lighting up the Georgia defense for most of the game, throwing for 348 yards and four touchdowns.

Georgia’s defense needs to get fixed before they play another talented quarterback and Heisman finalist, Max Duggan.

Kirby Smart is the best coach in college football right now, and this week he needs to play doctor. TCU can move the ball and they’ll bring an efficient air-attack to Los Angeles. Whatever issues Georgia has right now defensively, they need to fix over the next seven days.

They also need to see a real doctor while they’re at it. Smart was asked how healthy his team will be heading into practice this week, and the Georgia head coach said he’s hopeful that “all the guys” will be back in time for the national title game.

“We’re hopeful to get pretty much all the guys back” Smart told the Gameday crew. “Chaz Chambliss had a knee that was hyperextended. We’re hopeful to get him back. We had some guys dropping there for a little bit. We were in our 2s and 3s in some spots. Some guys stepped up and played and that’s what you have to have at the end of the year.”

Smart said in his post-game press conference that they’re hopeful to get Darnell Washington back as well.

“Hard to tell right now”, Smart said about Washington’s injury update.  “It's an ankle sprain. I don't know if it's high or low. He tried to go back and couldn't go back on it. We'll have to evaluate and see. The good news is he's got more than a normal week. I know he'll do everything he can to get back. He's headed out west towards where he's from. It will be important to him to try to get back.”
Smart would love to have Warren McClendon back at right tackle, but if he can’t go, the Bulldogs will be in good hands with Amarius Mims who held his own against the Buckeyes.
