ATHENS - After a massive win over No. 1 Tennessee last weekend in Athens, it’s safe to say things are rolling on the recruiting trail right now for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.
If the Bulldogs close on some of their top remaining 2023 targets, they’ll have a real chance at the No. 1 recruiting class in the country. We’ve reported for months now that Georgia is in a position to land some of the nation’s best in the 2024 class as well. It’s a LOADED class in-state and the Bulldogs are sitting in an excellent position for multiple 5-stars in that class.
But wait, there’s more.
The 2025 class is also very deep not only in Georgia, but across the country, and some of the nation’s top sophomores were in town to watch Georgia’s big win. They may be young, but if you follow Georgia Bulldog recruiting, these are players you need to know about sooner than later.
Here’s what some top 2025 prospects had to say about their UGA visit over the weekend...

David Sanders Jr. - Providence Day School (NC)
The nation’s No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 class according to the 247 Composite Rankings was in town and caught up with Dawg Post about his visit.
“I truly enjoyed the environment overall! Georgia works hard and they are committed to winning. I can see the confidence they have in one another. That’s something any recruit would appreciate. After being at the game, I can see that Coach Smart has a great relationship with his players. The crowd was insane!!! They stayed with the team until the very end! When it rained, it seemed like that made the fans even more excited! It seemed like the rain fueled them even more!
Elyiss Williams - Charlton County (GA)
A long, athletic 6-foot-6b 220-pounder from South Georgia, Williams is a massive TE/EDGE target with easy 5-star potential. Right now, he’s ranked as the No. 3 prospect in Georgia and the No.12 overall prospect in the country for the 2025 class.
“What impressed me was how Georgia got on Tennessee early, keeping their defense off the field while offense was driving down the field. In the 2nd half the defensive line brought the pressure to the Tennessee offense. I like coach Smart because he puts players in positions for them to succeed on the field.
Bear Tenney - Hamilton (AZ)
One of the top 2025 tight end prospects in the country, Tenney and his family made the trip to Athens from Arizona and left impressed with what the Bulldogs have to offer.
“The thing that impressed me the most was how the environment was insane. Definitely the loudest stadium I’ve ever been too! It was cool to experience a Gameday in Athens with all of their traditions like the Dawg Walk. The coaches and the staff always checked in with me and my family. Kirby is one of the best coaches in college football because he has his players work hard and prepared and when your program does that it’s just another game. You can definitely tell they were ready for that Tennessee game.”
Mason Short - Evans (GA)
Another elite offensive tackle prospect with length and athleticism, the Augusta native already holds an offer from Georgia and they could be tough to beat in the end for the young promising tackle. He’s ranked in the 247 Composite as the No. 6 prospect in Georgia and the No. 38 overall prospect in the country.
“The defense was lights out. The offensive line played great, they gave Bennett time to make passes. Coach Smart’s intensity, attention to detail, and love for his players make him one of the best. They were ready for Tennessee yesterday. The crowd was unbelievable. The never stopped cheering the whole game. We were sitting by the students section and they didn’t sit down once. It was the loudest game I’ve been to. Coach Searels always makes me feel welcome. We spoke before and after the game.”
