5-star DB Target: "I Can See Myself Playing For Kirby Smart”

ATHENS - As we’ve written about all week so far, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs saw plenty of elite prospects across the country come to town to watch them beat down the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers.
One of the biggest visitors from the 2024 class has to be 5-star defensive back, Ellis Robinson IV. A major Bulldog target from the very beginning, Robinson has always felt like a priority for the Georgia staff and broke down his weekend visit to Dawg Post.
“The way they dominated was impressive”, Robinson IV told Dawg Post. “I was really impressed with the way they executed the game plan. I was also impressed by the coaching on both sides of the ball. Coach Smart isn’t just the best coach in college football but he’s a players coach. He loves his guys and his guys love him. I can see myself playing for coach Smart.”

It’s clear Smart has built a strong relationship with the elite defensive back, but so has defensive backs coach Fran Brown.
“He (Brown) is genuine and sincere”, Robinson IV said. “No BS. He’s the same guy now with me and my family that he was when he was recruiting me at Rutgers. He just does a great job of getting to know you as a person.”
Robinson is very familiar with the Georgia staff and the program, and now he’s familiar with a crazy Sanford Stadium environment.
“Yea me and my parents sat through the whole thing and I could not hear my parents and they were sitting right next to me. Loudest stadium I’ve been in so far. It was crazy.”
After an important game-day visit, the IMG Academy (FL) star said he still feels like a major priority in the 2024 class and has felt that way for a long time now.
“Coach Kirby, coach Fran and coach Muschamp all feel the same about me”, Robinson IV said. “I’m their guy. They feel I can come in and contribute early. I feel coach Kirby’s history working with DB’s can help me develop and be ready for the next level.”
As a sophomore at Iona Prep (NY) in 2021, Robinson made 45 tackles and 8 INTs. He has a long, athletic frame at 6-foot-0 180-pounds with elite quickness and natural cover skills. He runs, he tackles well, and has the instincts that could allow him to push for playing time early in his career.
There’s a lot to like about his game, and it’s clear he’s VERY high on Georgia right now.
He’s ranked in the On3 Consensus as the No. 1 CB prospect, the No. 2 prospect in Florida, and the No. 6 overall prospect in the entire 2024 class.
