ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart gave an update on the status of WR AD Mitchell and DL Jalen Carter Tuesday night.

The seventh-year head coach said he was skeptical either player would be able to line up against the Gators on Saturday.

“They've done a little bit but we don't feel great about them,” he said. “Jalen has probably look better than Adonai, but I don't know at this point if either one of them will be able to play.”

Carter played in the first four games of the season, but was injured on the first play of the blowout win over Oregon. At Missouri Carter suffered a MCL injury, which added to the ankle injury he had against the Ducks.

Mitchell was sidelined at the start of the Kent State game. He has not played since.

The good news on the injury front is that it appears LB Smael Mondon is getting ready to play.

“Smael has looked really good. He's taken all his reps. I would venture to say he's in a good position,” Kirby said.

In addition, Kirby confirmed to reporters that DB Dan Jackson would miss the remainder of the season with a foot injury. He said a slew of players would have to help out with Jackson gone.

“Well, Malaki Starks and Chris Smith are starting, so they're there,” Kirby said. “Dan was playing someone a dime roll which, if you remember last year, we couldn't play dime. We didn't play dime much at all. With our depth at defensive back, David Daniel-Sisavanh is a guy that will step up and play. Javon Bullard and Tykee Smith both work and rep all the time at safety. JaCorey Thomas has been repping all year at safety. So, it'll be done by committee with all those guys.”

Kirby added that OL Drew Bobo (labrum) and OL Earnest Greene (back) also had surgery. Bobo is expected to be back by the spring; Greene by bowl season according to the head coach. Kirby added that RB Andrew Paul is “doing good”.
