ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs have a big matchup in Jacksonville against the hated Florida Gators this weekend, and Smart gave the latest injury update on a few key Bulldogs during his Monday press conference.

Kirby Smart on Jalen Carter and AD Mitchell being out...

”Jalen and AD (Mitchell) were not really practicing with us last week. We’re hopeful to get those guys back, but we still don’t know. AD has a high snkle sprain, and with that it’s hard to pinpoint a measurment. He’s battling to come back, and he’s doing everything we’ve asked. With Jalen it’s the MCL. The severity of that just depends on conditioning level. He hasn’t been 100% since the first play of the season.”

“Jalen is a phenominal player”, Smart added. “It affects your depth more than anything, but it's not like he's a one-trick pony . It affects everything because he's a really phenomenal player.”

Kirby Smart on Kendall Milton...

“Kendall was able to practice non-contact llast Thursday. We’re expectimg him to go today.

Kirby Smart on Smael Mondon...

“Smael was able to practice towards the end of the week. He looked good towards the end of last week.”

Heading into the Cocktail Party

The No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs are considered major favorites to beat their arch-rivals.

The Dawgs were installed as a 23.5-point favorite to beat the Gators Saturday night. The game will be broadcast on CBS and will kickoff at 3:30. No. 1 Georgia and the Gators were both off this week in anticipation of the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.

Any line over 20 points would the largest in the history of the game between the two old rivals. Florida was a 19-point favorite heading into the 52-17 beating of Georgia in 1995. Two years later the Gators were 18.5-point favorites before being shocked by the Dawgs in a 37-17 blowout win over the Gators. In 2011, Mark Richt’s first season as coach at UGA, the Dawgs were 19-point favorites. The Gators won 24-10 in row final game between Georgia and a Florida-led Steve Spurrier team.
