ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have a young star on their hands in wide receiver, Adonai Mitchell.

Last year’s freshman sensation, Mitchell caught 29 passes for 426 yards and four touchdowns, with his biggest catch coming in the 4th quarter of Georgia’s national championship game victory over Alabama.

In one of the biggest catches in Georgia Bulldog history, Mitchell hauled in a 40-yard bomb from Stetson Bennett that gave Georgia a 4th-quarter lead that they would not give up.

Now, it’s Mitchell’s turn to be a leader. He’s no longer a young pup, and the Bulldogs will need to rely on him a lot more in 2022. He’ll be a go-to option this fall, and it appears that he’ll be up to the task.

As the season quickly approaches, Mitchell spoke with the media on Tuesday to talk about his preparation for the upcoming season, his increased role in the offense, and the wide receiver room as a whole.

On being better prepared this season...

"In the Clemson game, I was a young freshman. Now, I am going into the second year in the offense, and I am getting more comfortable. I just recognize the signals now. I'm able to process quicker than I was last year."

On an increased role on the offense...

"Buying into the process that we go through every day. Coach Kirby, the coaching staff, they help us everyday work to get better. I bought into my role on the team, and it ended up working out."

On the wide receivers room...

"I feel like we have a great coach who gives us the tools to win. He knows all the receivers, and we all buy into it. Like I said, we play our roles, and everybody is being progressive every day. And you can see that. We just have to want it.”
