Week one of the high school football season came and went, and Kirby Smart and his Georgia Bulldogs staff have to be happy with what they saw from multiple commits and targets over the weekend.
Dawg Post was in Milton to watch the Buford Wolves dominate Alabama powerhouse Thompson, 38-7. Alabama RB commit Justice Haynes had a big night with multiple touchdowns. 5-star ATH KJ Bolden showed off his big-play ability as he scored a long TD in the first half to get the Wolves on board. He’s going to torch defenses all season long.
EDGE defender Eddrick Houston had a big 3rd down sack on one of Thompson’s first drives. He’s big, powerful, and knows how to get off blocks. Like Bolden, Houston is an impressive 2024 prospect to keep an eye one and ranked by Dawg Post as the No. 7 overall prospect in the state for his class.

The top-ranked 2024 prospect in Georgia, Jefferson’s Sammy Brown, ran through Alpharetta for 205 yards and three touchdowns along with another 2-point conversion run. Clearly the best player in the game, Brown also made. 6 tackles and one sack at linebacker. Jefferson lost the game, but Brown proved why he’s a 5-star prospect and one of the nation’s best in the 2024 class.

2025 tight end Ethan Barbour of Alpharetta is a good-looking prospect with size and ball skills. He’s a big target who can pluck the ball out of the air and pick up yards after the catch. In Alpharetta’s big win, Barbour caught 6 passes for 65 yards and one touchdown along with a 2-point conversion. He holds a Georgia offer and was wearing some Bulldog gloves as well.

At Norcross, Georgia Bulldog tight end commit Lawson Luckie found the endzone during the Blue Devil’s loss to Brookwood, coming down with a tough catch in traffic for the score. Luckie caught two passes for 18 yards and one touchdown.

WR Yazeed Haynes had a giant season opener as well, scoring two touchdowns with over 100 yards receiving. His speed and explosiveness should help him climb the 2023 rankings this fall. Look for him to have a massive senior season up in Pennsylvania.

Bulldog OL Joshua Miller and his squad played at Milton High School against 7A power Collins Hill, but it was a bad day for the Life Christian Academy offense who didn’t score a point in the contest. Sources say Collins Hill had 8 total sacks, with freshman sensation Deuce Geralds getting two sacks against Miller in the ballgame.
Georgia target Tyler Williams had a big opening game as well and scored a long TD on his first reception of the season. Williams plans to make a commitment in late September, and right now, Dawg Post beleives Georgia is still the team to beat.
