ATHENS - It’s going to be a giant month of June for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs who plan on hosting some of the nation’s top prospects on official visits next month.
New receivers coach Bryan McClendon is one assistant who will be extremely busy as he’ll have some big targets in town throughout the month of June.
4-star Aidan Mizell, who many think is leaning towards Florida, announced that he’ll be taking his official visit to Georgia the weekend of June 17th. He also plans on taking official visits to Florida, Tennessee, and Alabama in the month of June. Mizell is listed at 6-foot-2 180-pounds and ranked as the No. 23 WR prospect in the 2023 class according to the 247 Composite Rankings. Mizell caught 47 passes last year for 1,003 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Another receiver taking his official visit in June is four-star Tyler Williams. A top receiver from the Sunshine State, sources say Williams has shot up Georgia’s board over the last several weeks and he was in Athens for a visit in late March. Sources say the Clemson Tigers are likely the team to beat for the 6-foot-3 180-pounder, but McClendon is keeping Georgia in the race and will take his official visit the weekend of June 10th.
“Coach McClendon and I talk a lot”, Williams told Dawg Post this week. “Just the fact the he cares about what I’m doing in life outside of football means a lot. He can relate to me a lot in many ways. Georgia has a high chance of getting a official visit.”
A California native coming to the Classic City for an official visit is four-star Rico Flores Jr., who will be on town the weekend of June 17th. The 6-foot-1 190-pounder was in Athens in late April and sources say the Bulldogs have had some momentum in his recruitment ever since. He’s an impressive route runner with excellent hands, so it’s easy to see why the Bulldogs are after the Sacramento native.
4-star Jalen Hale is a big-time receiver out of Texas who plans to be in Athens for an official visit the weekend of June 3rd. Hale is a big-play threat with decent size at 6-foot-2 180-pounds who made catch matter last season, catching 50 passes for 1,154 yards and 14 touchdowns. Hale was in Athens for a visit back on March 15th as well. Hale is ranked as the No. 7 WR prospect and the No. 6 prospect in Texas according to the 247 Composite Rankings.
Then there’s JUCO standout Malik Benson, who put the Bulldogs in his “Top 5” in early May. Benson, whose recruitment could come down to Georgia and Alabama in the end, told Dawg Post that the Bulldogs are making him a “priority”, and that was one of the biggest reasons why they are in his final group along with Alabama, Tennessee, Oregon, and LSU. He’ll be in Athens for his official visit to Georgia the weekend of June 17th. Benson went for 1,229 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2021.
One of McClendon’s fastest and more explosive targets, Anthony Evans, will be in Athens for his official visit the weekend of June 10th. The former Arkansas commitment is one of the fastest receiver prospects in the country and in the process of seeing his recruitment really take off. He ran a 10.27 in the 100-meter this spring and will bring track-star speed to the gridiron.
“I talk to Coach Mc a lot” Evans told Dawg Post. “He’s a people person and I can relate to him really well. He’s not just about football. He wants to know about my family, school, what’s going on with me personally and all that.”
4-star Hykeem Williams is one of the top WR prospects in the country, and the high 4-star prospect confirmed to Dawg Post that he’ll be in Athens for his official visit to Georgia the weekend of June 17th. The playamker from Stranahan (FL) is very high on Georgia and has been to Athens twice this spring including a visit for G-Day earlier this month.
“What I like about coach McClendon is that he keeps it real all the time,” Williams told Dawg Post. “He has put Georgia high on my list because I know that he can put me in the right position to get to where I want to be.”
