ATHENS - If there’s one thing we know about Georgia’s 2023 recruiting class, it’s that new wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon is going to sign a loaded group of wideouts come December.

If you want to work for Kirby Smart, you better know how to recruit, and McClendon does it as well as any assistant in the SEC.

McClendon has Georgia sitting towards the top for a lot of his 2023 targets, and one of them is JUCO playmaker Malik Benson‍, who recently put Georgia in his “Top 5”. The Bulldogs made the cut along with Alabama, Tennessee, Oregon, and LSU

Why did Georgia make the cut for this day-one type of receiver?

“Georgia makes me feel like a priority!” Benson told Dawg Post.

The 6-foot-1 185-pounder out of Hutchinson C.C. (KS) saw his recruitment take off this spring after a monster freshman season last fall where he caught 43 passes for 1,229 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.

Benson plans to take his official visit to Georgia the weekend of June 17th. He’ll take an official visit to LSU the first weekend in June and take an official visit to Tennessee the weekend after that before heading to Athens the following weekend.

In other news, another Bulldog receiver target, four-star Tyler Williams‍, recently put Georgia in his “Top 10”. The fast-rising receiver out of Lakeland (FL) has plenty of size at 6-foot-3 180-pounds and recently told Dawg Post what he likes most about assistant Bryan McClendon.

“We talk a lot and just the fact the he cares about what I’m doing in life outside of football stands out to me”, Williams said. “He can relate to me a lot of different ways.”

Williams plans to take his official visit to Georgia the weekend of June 10th, and sources say this could likely come down to a Georgia/Clemson battle in the end.
