ATHENS - It’s been a tough two years for one of Georgia’s biggest playmakers. In a room full of young, talented receivers, 2019 signee Dominick Blaylock has become a veteran in the group, and one of the more forgotten players on the entire roster.

Blaylock, a former superstar receiver at Walton (GA) and one of the top receiver prospects across the country, showed big-play ability early on as a freshman in 2019. The former 4-star prospect made early impact in year one, catching 18 passes for 310 yards and five touchdowns.

Of course, Blaylock injured his ACL during Georgia’s 2019 loss to LSU in the SEC Championship, and injured his ACL again in August of 2020, missing his entire sophomore season.

Recovering from two ACL injuries, it was tough for Blaylock to get healthy enough to make an impact last year, but he did see some action against Charleston Southern and played sparingly the rest of the season.

It’s hard to know what to expect from Blaylock in 2022, but if he can stay healthy, he has an opportunity to make an impact in his 4th season as a Bulldog.

"He's doing well”, Smart told reporters last week. “He's been pretty consistent. The off-season program was good for him in terms of getting confidence, changing direction, doing some things well. I think he would be the first to tell that he's still rusty, but he's so confident with the ball. He catches the ball really well. He's smart, very savvy. He's a great route runner in the slot. He's done a tremendous job there. He's back-catching punts, as well. He brings some veteran experience. He's done a tremendous job.”

When healthy, we know what Dominick Blaylock can do. He’s someone who can line up in multiple spots, he has some of the best hands on the team, and can also help in the return game.

Yes, AD Mitchell might end up being the “go-to” guy in 2022. Ladd McConkey will also get his share of targets. Same with Brock Bowers and Kearis Jackson. You also have guys like Marcus-Rosemy Jacksaint and Arian Smith who can provide big-plays when healthy.

The Bulldogs have some talent at receiver, but if Dominick Blaylock can stay healthy, he could end up being the biggest surprise on offense this fall.
