Going into the 2021 season, no program had more pressure on them to win the national championship than Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.

For years and year, “1980” is all Georgia fans heard from opposing fanbases. Now, the Bulldogs have +350 odds to win the 2022-23 CFP Championship next year according to FanDuel.

All the talent that came through Athens and still no championships for 41 years. It was low-hanging fruit for everyone to bash the Bulldogs.

Well that’s all over. The sleeping giant is wide awake, and that’s bad news for every college football fan that doesn't have red and black running through their veins. This is the golden era of Georgia Bulldog football, and it looks like it’ll stay that way for the foreseeable future.

So which team now that he most pressure to win a title?

The first school that comes to mind is Texas A&M. Since moving to the SEC, the Aggies are finally a respectable program and the future is bright. They’re bringing in some elite talent and many out in College Station feel a championship is coming in the near future. They had an extremely disappointing season in 2021, but there's no reason why the Aggies shouldn't be moving forward each season.

Also, the Aggies haven't won a championship since 1939. Over 80 years ago. Those bad boys barely get recognized these days. Lots of pressure in Aggieland moving forward.

Auburn’s 2010 championship trophy is getting pretty dusty. It’s still recent enough for most Tiger fans, but that appears to be the only one they’ll have in the trophy case for a long time.

Oregon is a respectable program and have a very bright future with Dan Lanning at the helm. They have ZERO championships in program history. A big, giant goose egg. It’s not crazy pressure, but there will always be pressure for them to win the big one.

An interesting program to consider now is USC. The Trojans were a powerhouse in the early 2000s but haven’t’ come close to a championship ever since. With Lincoln Riley on board, many will set high expectations on the Trojans each year. Every year they don’t compete for a title will add more and more pressure on a program with everything they need to become contenders.

The Sooners are in re-build mode with Brent Venables now in Norman, but they always have high expectations. They have a pretty dusty national championship trophy as well, and they’re now becoming the team that’s “always good”, but just can’t seem to get the job done.

Ohio State has a recent national championship, but the years are starting to pile up for a program that’s consistently contending for it. They’ll be back soon, but the pressure is mounting for Ryan Day.

The Tennessee Vols have no national championship expectations. They won't for a LONG time.

The Texas Longhorns still aren't relevant. Can you have pressure to win a championship if you just lost to Kansas? I don’t think so.

Either way, the team that needed a championship the most finally won one. The pressure is finally off Kirby Smart and the Georgia football program.

Now, it's someone else’s turn to get the job done.
