“Kirby Smart and Georgia are going to be a contender for the next 10 years. A sleeping giant was awakened."

Those are the words of former Florida Gator legend Tim Tebow on ESPN’s “Get Up” segment where he spoke about Georgia’s future over the next several years.

He’s not wrong as this giant has been sleeping WAY too long.

This national championship was coming. It’s been in the making for six years now. The Georgia football program has EVERYTHING it needs to not only win one national championship, but quite a few more.

The No. 3 Bulldogs were considered 3-point favorites by FanDuel to beat No. 1 Alabama, and won their first national championship since 1980 with a 33-18 victory.

Georgia has resources. They have money to invest. They have upgraded facilities, one of the most passionate fanbases in American sports, program history, a winning culture, a great in-state recruiting base, and people around the program who know how to put it all together.

“Georgia has always been a great University”, Tebow added. “It’s a hotbed for talent but they’ve never won the big game. In my lifetime they’ve never been able to get over the hump. I think with the win over Alabama they went from hope to belief. From ‘maybe we can do it’, to ‘maybe we can do it every year’. I think the program Kirby Smart is building something sustainable with all the recruits they are bringing in. The way they love him and the way they love each other, I think they’re building something special.”

If you think it was easy for Kirby Smart to sign top-3 recruiting classes every year since 2017, it just got a whole lot easier now that they have a championship under their belt.

Yes, Kirby Smart and his staff have signed some ELITE talent over the last few years, and many from the 2018 and 2019 class were the reason why they were able to win the championship this season.

Even still, multiple recruits and sources close to them have told Dawg Post over the years, “Georgia's great, but they haven’t won a championship.” There was always that little tidbit that made the difference so prospects who would choose someone else other than Georgia.

Coaches have to recruit for their program and school, but they also have to show prospects why other schools aren't the best fit. You can bet Nick Saban, Dabo Swinney, and every other coach recruiting against Georgia have thrown that out there in front of a recruit and their family at some point. That’s just how things go.

Well, not anymore.

Prospects across the country always knew Georgia would have an opportunity to play for championships, and now they know it can be done. They also know that this success isn't going anywhere. Georgia isn’t falling off anytime soon.

You could make the case that the Kentucky Wildcats are the 2nd-best program in the East. Florida’s rebuilding with a brand new staff. It appears the Tennessee Vols know what they’re doing, but they don’t have enough talent to make a run at Georgia anytime soon. The same goes for South Carolina.

In the West, Alabama will still be Alabama for a while. Like Georgia, they aren't going anywhere anytime soon. The LSU Tigers are in full rebuild mode. The Auburn Tigers are trying to figure out how to do things still. The Rebels and Razorbacks have something put together and are looking up. The Aggies are the new team playing with all the pressure. Like Georgia, they have everything they need to make a championship-like run over the next several season.

Georgia got the monkey and elephant off their back. The giant Bulldog is awake, and he’s ready to bark.

Tim Tebow can see it, and so can everyone else.

The Georgia Bulldogs are national champions once more.

Kirby Smart and his No. 1 Dawgs have run through the 2021 season - knocking out Nick Saban and Alabama in Indianapolis to win it all in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

Now you can own this commemorative keep-sake hardcover book to remember the season. DAWGSTRUCTION will print in late January when the season concludes. The cover is subject to change.
