The Georgia Bulldogs Remain the Unanimous No. 1 Team After Bye Week
No game, no problem. The Georgia Bulldogs are still the unanimous No. 1 ranked team in the country.
Not only are they the best team in the country, but it does not seem to be particularly close at the moment. Who can match up with the Bulldogs and beat them? There is not an answer to that question yet.
Georgia’s remaining schedule should not present any issues for them until they inevitably play in the SEC Championship Game. The Bulldogs will not match up with a ranked team until then.
What happened in college football while Georgia was getting the rest they needed? How did the College Football Playoff Contenders Perform
Cincinnati struggled to beat Navy. They escaped with a 27-20 win, but it was not certain that they would win the whole. Yet, they continue to be in play to be the first team that is not in a Power Five conference to make the playoffs.
Oklahoma struggled to beat Kansas. Yes, they barely made it out alive against Kansas. Freshman quarterback Caleb Williams made a couple of nice plays, but the Sooners had a hard time beating one of the worst Power Five teams.
Alabama struggled for a long time against Tennessee. The 52-24 final score is not indicative of how the first 40 minutes went.
Oregon struggled against UCLA. The Bruins had an opportunity to march down the field and beat the Ducks, but their backup quarterback threw a horrible interception with about a minute left in the game.
Penn State lost. That was a really bad loss. It took them nine overtime periods to lose to Illinois.
Oklahoma State dropped their first game to Iowa State. The Cowboys looked like they could have an undefeated regular season, but that feat is over.
Notice a theme?
Ohio State was the only contender that looked like a contender. The Buckeye offense is really starting to click. If they play Georgia, that will shape up to be one exciting game.
Kirby Smart and company are No.1 and it is not close right now. That is the takeaway.
