Very winnable game. That late shot off a set play by Tech was the same play they ran against GSU. We should have scouted that. We had a small guard on Kelly, who can get a shot off against smaller guys. He just came down the lane and went one on one. Same play exactly. We defended it very poorly. We should have denied him the ball, guarded him with a bigger guy and maybe doubled him to make him give it up.
We win this game if we shoot our FTs better, if we rebound better and if we just don't turn the damn ball over. Sure, the players have to get open, but the design of the play has to be such that someone IS open. Or Roberts could have hit it off the guy guarding the inbounds pass to try to get a 2nd chance. His pass was horrible. I want guys coming to the basket, not running away from it. Gotta design a better play than that.
Agree with everything except on that inbounds play, there was no one guarding the inbounder, so Roberts couldn't have thrown it off of him.
I might be wrong, but I thought we had shot free throws well all season. Last night wasn't very good though. Idk what the final percentage ended up being but the ones that were missed were at crucial times.
I couldn't remember about the inbounder honestly, but I couldn't figure out what we were trying to do there. We needed a better play. That's why you try to have that 1 extra timeout to use in a situation like that. And we have shot FTs well this year. I think we were 11-18 last night with a number of big misses.
On Tech's winning shot, it would have been nice to have Juice to defend him instead of being at home sick. Would have made a difference. Both he and Lindsay would have helped on the boards, as well.
And the officials did us no favors last night either. Some really bogus calls.
