ATHENS - We’re a little over two weeks away from our first new look at the 2025 Georgia Bulldogs.
Kirby Smart has a loaded roster once again and is hoping several key players step up and take their game to another level this fall.
One of those players is cornerback Ellis Robinson. The former 5-star and No. 1 DB out of high school is someone Georgia fans have been patiently waiting to see since his arrival last year. The long, athletic cornerback saw action in four games last season and sources say he’s coming off a really strong scrimmage over the weekend. Look for Robinson to push returning starter Daniel Harris for the No. 2 CB job over the next two weeks.
“We need Ellis (Robinson) to be the best version of himself,” Smart told reporters this week. “He’s improved. He’s worked really hard. He competes in practice and can play physical. He doesn't always do it so he needs to do it more consistently. He is not shy or afraid of contact, and he's got ball skills. He makes plays on the ball a lot, and that's a big part of being a corner.”
Another second-year player bound for a big 2025 season is linebacker Chris Cole. A dynamic athlete with length, instincts, and versatility, Cole has a nose for the football and can play outside as well as make plays in the middle of the field. He’s already won over the staff and should be a key member of Georgia’s defense this fall.

According to FanDuel, former Bulldogs Jalen Carter has +2200 odds to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year next season.
“Chris does a good job for us,” Smart said. “He's very talented in different facets. He can stack back, play inside and back, or he can play on the edges, he can walk out space and play apex. He's long, he's rangy, but the number one thing is he's a high effort player. He's a high IQ player. We need him to be a good inside backer. We need him to be a good third down factor. We need him to be a guy that can line up and play on tight ends because of his length. And he's given us that ability.”
On offense, everyone knows Georgia’s run game has to improve. That’s been an emphasis from day one of the off-season. They have to run the football better and it starts with Nate Frazier. Georgia’s leading returning rusher, Frazier may be coming off a strong freshman season, but he still needs to keep learning and growing as he attempts to become one of the best running backs in college football.
“The biggest growth from Nate Frazier from where he was last year, another guy who got here this summer, is his knowledge and pickups, third down, pass mode, knowing when I can get in, when I can get out, when I have to stay in and protect, how I protect. The knowledge and understanding of that is not having to rely on the quarterback to tell you and I think that's big. His confidence in his run and his ability to give effort and conditioning level is much better than he was in the first year.”
