Many criticize the choice of Hubert Davis as coach because he's never been a HC. Well, Roy Williams was never a HC until he got to Kansas; Dean Smith was never a HC until he got the UNC job (after being an assistant there); our own Kirby Smart had never been a HC before he took our job. I remember hearing Davis when he was a TV commentator. He understands the game. He's been on Roy's bench for a number of years now soaking up the HOFer's teachings. He played for Dean Smith. He was the virtually unanimous choice of the players. I think we need to wait awhile before we criticize the move.
