Great career move for him, but it will likely hurt us in the short run. Xavier is a helluva program.

Good luck to him. With Xavier recent success I totally understand this step for him.

My sincere hope is that Jonas returns as our head coach after a successful 15 year run by Crean. That would mean a lot went right for all parties in the interim!

Best of luck to Jonas. He played on the team(s) that got me hooked, so it's all his fault. I love him anyway.

I wish Jonas the best, evidently he felt it was in his best interest to get away and get more experience at a pure basketball school-to help for a potential HC gig in the near future. Considering the new hire at Xavier has no head coaching experience, guess Jonas feels like he will be a lot more involved there?? I don't see him stealing many recruits from ATL/GA to be honest, but I do think he will be an asset at Xavier. Travis Steele spent a LONG time at his alma mater and now has the head gig.

Well darn I thought we could keep Jonas. Wonder what the recruits are thinking.

Exactly right, pitcrew. This should be a good career move for Jonas.

Stevie, that's the right way to look at it. Some goofs are already calling Jonas a "traitor". Imbecilic, really. He has to think about his career. And if he doesn't mesh with Crean, he doesn't need to be on his staff. Xavier is a helluva landing spot.

I wonder the same, ian. Though I will say that hiring Chad Dollar is a great first hire for Crean. I hope he can get at least 1 other great recruiter on his staff, as well as a solid X & O guy.

It's more than likely going to be a veteran and a younger guy,

I think the hiring of Dollar was the sign that Crean felt pretty sure Jonas was leaving-but man that would have been a great duo recruiting ATL for us. Oh well, I am happy he did hire Dollar (who is more connected in ATL than Jonas if we are being honest) and now we need to see who else he hires as assistant coaches. Still very excited about our future, even without Jonas. Amazing that the new Xavier coach is actually younger than Jonas.
