So the squad seems a bit more balanced now. Hightower, Jackson, Crump, Fagan, Toppin, Harris, and now him as perimeter options. Hammonds, Wilridge, Claxton, Ogbeide, Edwards, and Ngumezi for front court roles.
Of course, there are still weaknesses on the roster. But this signing does strengthen our perimeter, which is what we needed to do. I have felt for several years that we had too many posts on the roster and not enough guards. Good move in the short run. Now we have to see what Crean does with the 4 spots he has to fill in the '19 class. Interestingly, I think we lose several of our weaker players in the next class. If we can sign a strong class, we can increase our talent level immensely.
Agree Monk. Ogbeide has really been the only net positive from this class. 4 open spots. A full year to recruit. And the 2 big time recruiting assistants. Crean has a big opportunity next year to make a big splash w elevating the talent
But who will he play ahead of? He is just learning the point position. Would a "beginner" point freshman play ahead of senior Turtle, or Hightower? If he plays the 2, does he play ahead of Crump, or beat out Fagan, or Harris? Will CTC deploy a 10-11 man rotation like the ex-coach?
Kid's just a freshman. I doubt anyone expects him to start, and certainly not on day 1. I think Hightower should be the PG. We have experienced wings. Iggy will be a back-up, unless he can really impress. Let's see how he fits in.
