ATHENS - It’s hard to win championships when you’re rushing for less than 125 yards a game.

That’s what the Georgia Bulldogs did in 2024. It’s completely unacceptable and something that needs to change in a big way this fall.

Thankfully, the Bulldogs will have their leading rusher back in sophomore Nate Frazier. As a freshman last season, Frazier showed lots of promise as he ran for a team-leading 671 yards with eight touchdowns. He’s one of the top returning backs in the SEC and should be in store for an even bigger 2025 season.

Then there’s Josh McCray. The big 6-foot-1 235-pound back transfered in from Illinois and brings size, physicality, and experience to Georgia’s running back room. The Dawgs brought him in for a reason and he will absolutely play a role next fall. He rushed for 609 yards and 10 touchdowns last season for the Illini.

Chauncey Bowens is another big back with the potential to see some carries come his way. He shined at times during Georgia’s G-Day scrimmage in April and brings more size at 5-foot-11 225-pounds.

Dwight Phillips Jr is still one one of the fastest backs in college football. He’s not an every-down back, but he gives Georgia plenty of speed and explosiveness.

Cash Jones is a dependable back and one of the best you’ll find in the SEC in the passing game. He’s a mismatch there and will give Georgia some versatility and consistent hands out of the backfield.

Bo Walker is a freshman that turned heads this spring. His time will come and there’s a good chance he’ll see some early carries come his way in week one and two.

But then there’s the “X” factor. A guy that many Georgia fans may have forgotten about.

It’s Roderick Robinson.

The big, bruising back was bound for an impactful second season last year before suffering a turf-toe injury that cost him almost the entire 2024 season. Now, it appears he’s healthy and ready to attack fall camp next month.

Just like last summer, Robinson has been working and training with former Auburn running back Brad Lester this month. A video of Robinson’s workout hit the internet hard this week and it should make Georgia fans very, very happy.

A bulldozer of a back at 6-foot-1 235-pounds, Robinson is a tackle-breaking machine when he’s healthy and will absolutely see carries come his way when he’s ready for them. He’s running up hills in the scorching July heat and doing it with ease. He’s keeping on muscle and doing his best to get in the best shape possible to prepare for fall camp.

Nate Frazier is the top dawg in Georgia’s backfield. Josh McCray will push hard for the No. 2 job. Bowens is eager to see the field as well, but Roderick Robinson needs the football if he’s ready to run. He’s a powerful back who can get tough yards and bounce off defenders.

If he’s healthy, these big, bruising Bulldogs should help Georgia’s running game improve dramatically this fall.
