As we all know, Georgia is one of the better Bowl Teams in history. Only Alabama has been to more Bowl Games, and only Bama and Southern Cal have won more Bowl games. We currently have the second longest Bowl Game appearance streak in the country at 22 straight years, behind only Va Tech at 26. We've won 16 of those 22 Bowls, while Va Tech has won only 12 of their 26 (and they've gone bowling with just 6 wins 4 times in the last 7 years).
But perhaps the more impressive stat is that with all of those Bowl Games and all those wins, it has been over 40 years since we lost a Bowl Game by more than 7 points. The last time it happened was the 1976 Sugar Bowl against National Champion Pitt with Tony Dorsett. Ever since then, if you played us in a Bowl, either you most likely lost, or if you were lucky you barely won. We may not have won it all, but we've been consistently good more so than any other team. Just about any team you can name has had at least one, if not several, blowout Bowl losses over that time, including every other SEC team, every ACC team, every upper tier team in the Big Ten, Big 12, & Pac 12, Notre Dame, and so on.
Now yeah, no one keeps track of that kind of stat, and obviously it'd have been nice to have brought home a NC at some point. But that being said, it's pretty remarkable how consistently good we've been for a looooong time.
