Article's author, Steven Lassen, ranks Fromm behind Mississippi State's Nick Fitzgerald, Auburn's Jarrett Stidham, Missouri's Drew Lock, and Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa.

5. Jake Fromm, Georgia

Fromm ranks as the No. 5 quarterback on this list, but he could easily rank a few spots higher. The gap between the league's top signal-callers in 2018 is small, and Fromm still has to contend with incoming freshman Justin Fields. Fromm was one of college football's top freshmen last season, as he replaced Jacob Eason as Georgia's No. 1 quarterback following an injury in the opener against Appalachian State. Fromm threw for 2,615 yards and 24 touchdowns, while his 62.2 completion percentage tied for second in the SEC last fall.

Boy old Tua is getting a lot of love based purely on potential (He may turn out to be great but we just don't know yet). I have no problem with Locke he just doesn't have much help especially on D. Stidham ran up a lot of stats because Gussie left him in during some lopsided losses to run up his stats. Fitzgerald is a good kid and a good runner but his passing abilities aren't very good. Fromm definitely should be higher in this list but the good thing about Jake from state fromm is that he probably won't lose a minute of sleep over this list.

We are responsible for Tua being so highly regarded. He is ranked that high based on playing the second half and essentially winning a national title for the Tide-but let's think about it, Fromm took our team from game 1 and led us to the national championship. Let's see how Tua does as a starter from game one-and heck, he already got hurt in the spring at Bama. I was very impressed with him, as everyone was, but I am not ready to have him ranked higher than Fromm. I can see Stidham and Lock being ahead of Fromm because of more experience, Fitzgerald is a good QB but I would take Fromm over him any day of the week.

Bama and ol Saban-Gotti always get the love....a recruit will have a 3 star rating and an offer from Bama will immediately add another star to their ranking. Tua is good, but I just think it's funny how ol Hurts was the God of Universe over there, until he started struggling....now he's just thrown to the side for the new kid in town. I hope that doesn't happen with us if Fromm starts struggling and Fields comes in and looks good. We all know that sort of thing does happen and sometimes needs to happen, but I just hope Smart handles this a lot better if that does happen, and I hope the fanbase don't start whining for him to put in JF if Fromm does start struggling...there is some truth to the old saying, 'the second string QB is the most loved player in the team...'
