ATHENS - Georgia’s 5-star running back commitment isn’t going anywhere (for now).
Elite running back Kemon Spell, the nation’s No. 1 running back prospect in the 2027 class, has been committed to Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs since February 2nd.
He’s Georgia’s highest-ranked commitment at the moment who could see early playing time next season.
However, sources have told Dawg Post for weeks that the Miami Hurricanes are doing everything they can to flip the elite back from Georgia. The ‘Canes have been a major thorn for the Dawgs on the recruiting trail lately, already flipping 5-star cornerback Donte Wright from Georgia this summer.
A recruiting analyst at On3 reported that the Canes are still pushing for Spell, but the Bulldog commitment made it clear he’s firmly “Committed to the G”.

According to FanDuel, the New York Knicks have +950 odds to win the NBA Finals next summer.
“This is not true I’m a dawg”, Spell tweeted.
Now Bulldog fans have seen this before.
We were told by Jared Curtis’ camp in August that he was going to be a Bulldog. They couldn’t wait to be part of the Georgia family. After two separate public commitments to Georgia, Curtis flipped to Vanderbilt at the very last minute.
Dylan Raiola moved to Georgia as a senior and spent several fall Saturdays in Athens. He was committed until the very end, flipping to Nebraska at the last minute. He’s since bailed on the Cornhuskers to be the backup quarterback at Oregon.
Yikes.
So yes, Georgia fans are going to be worried about Spell until the very end. Money talks, and major programs like Miami aren’t going to give up on the nation’s top running back.
But right now, Spell says he’s a Dawg. And if he signs with Georgia in December without flipping, he’ll likely be a fan favorite the second he gets to campus.
As a junior last fall for McKeesport (PA), Spell ran for 1,755 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns while missing five games. The 5-foot-10 205-pounder is ranked as the No. 6 overall prospect in the country for the 2027 class.
