ATHENS - For the fourth time in two days, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs land a major commitment in the 2027 class.
This time it’s four-star linebacker Joakim Gouda who jumps on board and commits to Georgia.
As we’ve reported all spring, the Bulldogs were the team to beat for Gouda who has been a silent commitment for a long time now.
Glenn Schumann made Gouda a top target in this class, and now the McEachern standout is on the commit list.

“People just know it’s a given that Georgia produces elite linebackers. But what makes him a good recruiter is how he gets to know you and the people in your circle. He doesn’t do it just to sign you. He does it to genuinely learn about your family. He’s very intentional with what he does. He always brings in his top guys every cycle. He told me that the plan is to come in and give it my all. They always love when an in-state guys wants to stay home and play for Georgia. It just means more. It’s an amazing opportunity and I’ll take a lot of pride in it.”
As a prospect, it’s easy to see why the Bulldogs made Gouda a top priority in this class. The 6-foot-2 230-pounder has great instincts, plays with aggression, and knows how to wrap up the ball-carrier. He’s physically gifted, understands the game, and plays with passion. He made 100 total tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble last fall for South Paulding (GA).
Not only does he have passion for the game, but he has passion for the Georgia football program and being able to play for the home-state school.
Gouda gives Glenn Schumann his second linebacker commitment in the 2027 class and Georgia’s 12th overall commitment.
