ATHENS - While the Georgia Bulldogs push through their final week of spring practice, top recruits continue to make their way to Athens to check out the team.
The Bulldogs are sitting at eight commitments in the 2027 class with two of them coming in the secondary. Those two commitments are four-star cornerbacks Donte Wright and Jerry Outhouse Jr..
At safety, there are several major in-state targets to keep an eye on, but the Dawgs were able to host two impressive out-of-state prospects in town recently as well.
One recent visitor was Tae Walden Jr.. A four-star athlete from Collierville (TN) dominated on both sides of the ball last season, catching 42 passes for 912 yards and 10 touchdowns. However, the Bulldogs are recruiting Walden to play in the secondary. The playmaking defensive back spent more time with defensive backs coach Donte Williams and broke down his recent visit to Athens with Dawg Post.
“I learned that Georgia practices are different from anywhere else I’ve seen. It’s definitely the most intense. What stood out about coach Williams was definitely his plan to develop me and also informing me that I would have a chance to come in and play early.”
In the secondary last season, Walden Jr. picked off five passes and broke up 17 more in coverage. He’s a natural athlete with a promising 6-foot-2 165-pound frame who knows how to make a play on the ball. He’s electric with the ball in his hands who also shined on special teams in the return game. He’s currently ranked as the No. 292 overall prospect in the country for the 2027 class.
Another four-star safety in town was Jarrell Chandler. A Knoxville, Tennessee native with the Vols in his backyard, Chandler made the trip down to Athens this week for a big unofficial visit.
A natural playmaker in the secondary, Chandler shows strong instincts in coverage and knows how to wrap up properly against the run. The 6-foot-2 190-pounder plays fast, hits hard, and lit up the stat sheet last season with 109 tackles, 13 TFLs, 23 pass-breakups, one INT, four fumble recoveries, and three forced fumbles.
Chandler also made big plays on offense with 766 yards receiving and seven more touchdowns. Chandler is ranked as the No. 20 safety prospect and the No. 197 overall prospect in the country.
