ATHENS - On Thursday Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs kicked off their second spring practice with several impressive targets on hand.

Recruits have been making their way to Athens all week and the Dawgs had several in-state targets in town yesterday to check out the 2026 Bulldogs.

One major prospect in town was 2028 RB target Jacez Walton‍.

The Carrollton, Georgia native at Central (GA) is no stranger to Athens and could very well be one of Georgia’s top running back targets in the 2028 class. The powerful, tackle-breaking back stands at 5-foot-11 205-pounds and is no stranger to Athens. He’s familiar with the staff and had a lot to say about his recent visit to Dawg Post.

My biggest takeaway is how Coach Crawford coaches his running backs. I haven’t got to see that before and it meant a lot. The thing that stands most about Coach smart is how much he loves his players and cares about them. Even though they didn’t have full pads on the intensity was still there and everyone was moving full speed.”

As a sophomore last season, Walton rushed for 1,251 yards and 14 touchdowns. He ran for at least 100 yards in six games, breaking tackles and out-running defenders the entire way. He also averaged just under 10 yards per carry, showing why he’s without a doubt one of the top 2028 running backs in Georgia.

Another impressive in-state prospect in town was elite ATH Giovanni Tuggle‍. A local defensive back who can also make plays on offense and special teams, Tuggle plays at Winder Barrow (GA) and made the short drive to Athens on Thursday to watch Georgia’s practice.

One of the top overall prospects in the country, Tuggle is ranked as the No. 1 prospect in Georgia for the 2028 class. He’s a natural athlete who shines in the secondary due to his instincts in coverage, physicality, and terrific ball skills. The playmaking defender made 74 tackles on defense while picking off four passes in coverage. He took one INT back for a touchdown, returned a punt back for a touchdown, and returned a kickoff back for a touchdown as well. The 5-star prospect is someone Georgia fans need to keep a close eye on moving forward.

Tuggle is ranked as the No. 1 safety and the No. 12 overall prospect in the country for the 2028 class.
