ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have extended an offer to one of the top young prospects in North Georgia.

That could be Cartersville (GA) defender, Kylen Pope.

A promising pass-rusher with plenty of size and natural athleticism at 6-foot-3 230-pounds, Pope made a big impact as a sophomore for an impressive Cartersville defense. He closes quickly on the quarterback and knows how to play with leverage against the run.

After a strong second season, Pope now holds an offer from the in-state Georgia Bulldogs.

“Earning an offer (from Georgia) was a feeling like no other,” Pope told Dawg Post. Being from Georgia and having the home town favorite school offer was just a shocking, but reachable accomplishment. The Georgia football program honestly is the heart and soul of defense in the SEC. Being able to have the opportunity to go play ball up there one day is great to know.”

Pope is ranked as a three-star prospect and the No. 26 EDGE defender in the 2027 class.

Another prospect who earned a big Georgia offer this week was Jamarin Simmons. One of the fastest-rising receivers in Florida, Simmons earned new offers from Georgia and LSU this week after impressive during the camp circuit. He’s a fluid runner at 5-foot-11 165-pounds who tracks the ball well down the field and can haul in a tough catch in traffic. He’s ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 38 wide receiver prospect in the country.

Simmons hauled in 59 passes last season for Godby (FL) for 932 yards and 14 touchdowns.
