ATHENS - UGA Football’s leading rusher Nate Frazier has made his decision about the 2026 season.

Frazier is returning to the Bulldogs this fall according to Pete Thamel of ESPN. Over the weekend speculation grew that Frazier had not signed his deal to stay with UGA for the 2026 season. Dawg Post reported Saturday that Frazier had not entered the portal as of 7 PM that night.

Insiders told Dawg Post that UGA could have been “sitting on (Frazier’s) papers” for the 48 hours that is permitted for each institution to enter a player’s name into the portal as the Dawgs tried to get a deal worked out. It is also possible Frazier never intended to enter the portal, but was just working out the final details of the 2026 deal.

UGA players have a deadline of Friday to declare that they will enter the NCAA’s Transfer Portal. On Monday the Bulldogs got very good news from Chauncey Bowens, who said he was returning for 2026. Former Kentucky RB Dante Dowdell also said he would be in Silver Britches this fall - arriving in Athens via the Transfer Portal.

The California native made an immediate impact as a freshman in 2024, ending his first season with 671 yards and eight touchdowns. As a sophomore in 2025, Frazier led the team with 947 yards and six scores on the ground. He also caught 16 passes for 116 yards and one more touchdown.

Frazier played better and better down the stretch in 2025. He ended the year averaging 5.5 yards per carry. Georgia’s running game took a significant step forward in 2025, and Frazier was a big reason why.
