ATHENS - Another Georgia Bulldog is entering the transfer portal.

This time it’s safety Joenel Aguero. An impactful defensive back who battled with injuries down the stretch, Aguero barely saw the field against Alabama and listed at “out” against Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl. Other defensive backs who stepped up in his absence include Resean Dinkins, Zion Branch, among others.

Over his three-year career in Athens, Aguero made 80 total tackles, broke up seven passes and picked off one pass. As a junior in 2025 he made 39 tackles, one interception and two pass breakups. His most impactful game came against Tennessee this fall where he made a career-high seven tackles and one interception during Georgia’s overtime victory in Knoxville over the Vols.

Aguero made 12 starts this past season, appeared in 11 games as a sophomore in 2024 and appeared in 12 games as a freshman in 2023.

The Bulldogs added safety Khalil Barnes through the transfer portal and are hoping to add more.
