Impressive California Receiver Commits To Kirby Smart, UGA Football
Act now and get three months of Dawg Post for the price of one
ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have landed their first commitment in the 2027 class.
Impressive California wide receiver, Gavin Honore.
The talented pass-catcher out of Mater Dei (CA) earned an offer from the Dawgs in early April and made the trip to Athens this weekend. It’s clear he saw everything he needed from James Coley and the UGA football program, and today he jumped on the commit list.
Now, Honore becomes Georgia’s second commitment in the last three days and the first in the 2027 class.

According to FanDuel, the Atlanta Falcons have +6500 odds to win the Super Bowl next season.
Why did Honore choose Georgia?
“The biggest reason is because of the culture,” Honore told Dawg Post. “It’s second to none and the coaching staff are genuinely great people. They truly believe in my talents and abilities on the field. And most importantly the staff are great people off the field. It feels like family!
“What’s makes UGA the best is the way they run their program,” Honore added. “It reminds me a lot of Matte Dei and both of them have a tradition of winning. Getting to be out there this past weekend made me realize this is a place where I truly want to be!”
What will Honore bring to Georgia?
Natural speed and big-play ability.
At 5-foot-10 180-pounds, Honore is a speedy pass-catcher who can really stretch the field. He shows quick feet, impressive burst, and the ability to sneak past opposing defensive backs down the field. He tracks the ball well in the air and secures it properly into his body when making a contested catch. He’s lean, athletic, and has enough speed to out-run defenders in the open field.
As a sophomore last season, playing for arguably the best program in the country, Honore made a giant impact as he caught 23 passes for 353 yards and six touchdowns. His numbers aren’t insane, but his talent and potential is easy to see.
He’s one of the top 2027 receivers in California who is excited to make the cross-country move to Athens down the road. It’s obviously an early commitment, but Horne is still someone that Georgia fans need to keep an eye on moving forward.
