UGA Football defensive lineman Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins was selected No. 139 overall by the Vikings in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Kirby Smart has yet another former Georgia defensive lineman selected to play at the next level.

Ingram-Dawkins’ decision to declare for the NFL Draft was a little controversial for two reasons. The first one being that he did not play that much football at Georgia.

He was a four-year player at Georgia, and was the top player in the state of South Carolina in the 2021 recruiting class, but he missed a lot of games due to injury. Combine that with the fact that Georgia has had so many talented defensive lineman, including some of them in this draft, and he just did not play that much football over four seasons.

He totaled just 40 tackles and four sacks over four years. 2024 was his most productive season, when he totaled 19 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble.

The other reason why it was slightly controversial is due to Georgia being so inexperienced on the defensive line this coming season. Ingram-Dawkins would have been a starter on the 2025 defense and one of the veterans on a line that does not have a lot of snaps played between the projected starters.

Even with a lack of experience, Ingram-Dawkins is a two time SEC and national champion.

He helped himself a lot in the pre draft process. Ingram-Dawkins impressed at the NFL scouting combine. He ran the third-fastest 40-yard dash time among defensive tackles at the combine, clocking in with a 4.86-second time. He ran the fastest 10-yard split at the position with a 1.69 second time. His top speed of 20.59 MPH was the second-best in the group.

He showed off his athleticism in Indianapolis, and now he will get to do that at the next level.
