ATHENS - It was a life-changing weekend for track star and promising wide receiver, Dillon Mitchell.
The young freshman out of CE King (TX) and new Georgia Bulldog target set a national freshman record in the 100-meter this weekend after a blazing 10.35-second wind-aided time. He followed that up with a 10.29 wind-aided time during another track meet on Saturday. Now his recruitment is blowing up after showing elite speed on the track. He also has the freshman tape to back up his recent offers after an electric 2024 season last fall.
The explosive 5-foot-8 155-pounder did a little bit of everything as he made plays on offense, defense, and special teams during his first high school season. He only played on the freshman team, but still, his talent, speed, and big-play ability was easy to see. At running back, Mitchell ran for 667 yards on just 26 carries with 13 touchdowns. He also caught 11 passes for 308 yards and seven touchdowns to go along with three kickoff return touchdowns and three more punt return touchdowns.
A scoring machine, Mitchell totaled 1,435 yards and scored 26 total touchdowns. Again, it may not have been on the varsity level, but speed is speed, and Mitchell has plenty of it. After showing that elite speed this weekend, Mitchell earned offers from Georgia, Ole Miss, Florida, Texas A&M, Baylor, among others. Speed is great, but Mitchell shows the potential to be a true game-changer on the gridiron. He’s more than a track star and now has the offers to back it up.

“When I received the offer me my family and I were very excited”, Mitchell said. “We went wild in the car. I know that UGA football is great and has produced some dawgs”.
Look for Mitchell to climb the 2028 rankings more over time with the chance to have a massive sophomore season next fall at the varsity level. He’s one of the fastest prospects in the country with a bright future ahead of him. He may be young, but he’s a speedy athlete that Bulldog fans need to keep an eye on over the next few years.
