BREAKING: 5-Star QB Jared Curtis Makes Huge Announcement About UGA Football
ATHENS - Five-Star QB Jared Curtis, one of the top quarterback prospects in the current recruiting cycle, said he would only visit two schools in the coming months before making his college decision.
Curtis announced he was down to UGA Football and Oregon on social media on Saturday. Curtis announced a year ago that he was committed to Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs, but backed away and reopened his recruiting.
“That was a tough loss for Bobo and UGA,” Dawg Post’s Matt DeBary said of Curtis’ decommitment. “NIL will be key here, and the Georgia staff knows it. Landing the nation’s top QB won’t be cheap, so they’ll likely have to offer a better deal than Nike-led Oregon. The Ducks used NIL to flip a prized 5-star cornerback away from Ohio State in last year’s recruiting cycle.”
Curtis told On3 of his decision to visit only UGA and Oregon. As a junior last fall, Curtis threw for 2,830 yards and 40 touchdowns with three interceptions. He also ran for 637 yards and 18 touchdowns. Georgia added two quarterbacks in the 2025 class - four-star Ryan Montgomery and three-star Hezekiah Millender.
“Curtis is a big, mobile gunslinger at 6-4, 225-pounds who can beat defenses with both his arm and his legs,” DeBary said. “I’d lean Oregon this second, but we are long way from Signing Day. That’s what these visits are for - to nail down what guys want moving forward and seeing if the schools can deliver that.”
Mike Bobo visited Curtis in January, and Kirby followed that up with a trip to Nashville to see the signal caller.
“The Dawgs need to sign an elite QB in the 2026 class and they should do everything they can to get Curtis back on the commit list,” DeBary added.
