ATHENS - UGA Football and Kirby Smart landed the No. 1 quarterback prospect in the class of 2026 on Saturday.
Jared Curtis, a 6-4, 225-pound prospect from Nashville, picked the Bulldogs over a slew of schools including Ohio State, Texas, Alabama and Oklahoma. The move is another high-level signal called committed to Kirby and the Bulldogs in a line of 5-star prospects that began at the start of the decade.
Curtis is considered one of the top players in the country for the 2026 cycle, and will be considered a five-star prospect in the coming months when rankings are updated.
“Curtis is a big, mobile gunslinger at 6-4, 225-pounds who can beat defenses with both his arm and his legs,” Dawg Post’s Matt DeBary said of the commitment. “His arm talent is easy to notice.”
Curtis ended the 2023 season accumulating 2,522 yards and 25 touchdowns throwing the ball, and adding 543 yards rushing with 13 touchdowns.
“He can test defenses vertically and knows how to throw accurately on the run,” DeBary added. “As a sophomore, Curtis carved up opposing defenses on a consistent basis last fall. He can win games with his arm, but he’s also capable of picking up key yards on the ground.”
