This Is What Georgia Bulldog QB Ryan Puglisi Thinks Of Gunner Stockton

ATHENS - Rarely will you see a college football starting quarterback become friends with his backup. Especially at a place like Georgia.
Jacob Eason and Jake Fromm weren’t “friends”. They may have been somewhat friendly with each other, but they were far from friends.
Jake Fromm and Justin Fields certainly were not friends. Stetston Bennett and Carson Beck were friendly, but I don’t think anyone called them friends. Same with Carson Beck and Gunner Stockton.
Several sources told Dawg Post that none of the quarterbacks wanted to be friendly with JT Daniels when he came to Athens.
However, it’s clear quarterback Ryan Puglisi has a tremendous amount of respect for returning starter Gunner Stockton. Are they “friends”? That’s hard to believe this second, but there’s obviously some mutual respect between the two.
In fact, Puglisi had no problem telling Dawg Post recently about how he felt about both Gunner Stockton, and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo.

According to FanDuel, the Green Bay Packers have +2000 odds to win the Super Bowl next season.
“I love Gunner”, Puglisi told Dawg Post in New Orleans. “I love everything about him. He handles his business in a professional way. He’s been the same person day in and day out. Being able to learn from him has been amazing.”
“I’ve learned a ton from coach Bobo”, Puglisi added. “He’s amazing. Just learning from him and all the knowledge he has. He’s been in the game for a while.”
There’s a lot to take from these quotes.
First, Ryan Puglisi has his head on straight. He came to Athens to compete and to learn. Even with Dylan Raiola set to come in with him, Puglisi didn’t care. He’s a mature, determined young man who comes to work every day. He’s learning, he’s developing, and he wants to be the starting quarterback at the University of Georgia.
This is also another example of Gunner Stockton’s leadership and the respect he has in the locker room. Everyone’s heard the stories by now of the Georgia locker room erupting at halftime of the SEC Championship when they knew Gunner was taking over. The talented, easy-going North Georgia gunslinger is easy to root for, and it’s clear everyone on the team has his back.
In a way, it may be a good thing that there isn’t a clear “beef” between Georgia’s No. 1 and No. 2 quarterback. The competition between the two will be fierce, but it’s easy to see that both have their minds in the correct place heading into the spring. They both love the game, they both bring leadership qualities, and they’ll continue to push each other and make each other better over the next nine months before the start of the 2025 season.
