ATHENS - Georgia offensive lineman Monroe Freeling underwent offseason shoulder surgery, first reported by Dawgs HQ.
Freeling is expected to miss time during spring practice for UGA Football, but will likely be ready to go for the beginning of the 2025 season.
Kirby Smart and the offensive staff will look to develop the younger players on the offensive line if Freeling misses most of the offseason to recover.
Freeling, a sophomore and former four-star recruit from the 2023 signing class eventually took over one of the starting tackle spots towards the end of the 2024 season. Earnest Greene dealt with a shoulder injury himself, and Freeling was subbed in as a primary start after rotating into the during the prior games.

Freeling is primarily used at both tackle positions and at this point, is expected to be one of the starting tackles for Georgia in the 2025 season.
Georgia is losing four of its starting offensive lineman to end the 2025 season to graduation or the NFL Draft. All-American guards Dylan Fairchild and Tate Ratledge are moving on along with center Jared Wilson and six-year Bulldog Xavier Truss.
Georgia’s offensive line was one of the notable groups that had its fair share of struggles during 2024, partly due to injuries. Ratledge missed a few games, Wilson missed a few games and eventually Greene had to come out of the lineup as well.
Now it is more clear that even Freeling, who was a reserve to start the season, was dealing with an injury of his own.
The 6-foot-7, 300 pound lineman will now be in recovery for what will likely be the duration of spring practice. Georgia typically deals with injuries during this time of the year each season. Players from the 2024 and 2025 class will get more reps with him temporarily out of the lineup.
