ATHENSKirby Smart does not want to play freshman at Georgia unless they are absolutely ready or he feels like he has to.

This year, three freshmen got significant playing time for UGA Football, and all three of them made the 2024 All-SEC Freshman team. Running back Nate Frazier, safety KJ Bolden and linebacker Chris Cole made the team for their contributions to the 2024 SEC Champion Georgia Bulldogs.

Frazier burst onto the scene in the opening game against Clemson with over 100 total yards and a touchdown in the absence of starting running back Trevor Etienne. Frazier is Georgia’s leading rusher up to this point with 634 yards and eight touchdowns on 129 carries. He added 10 receptions for 68 yards.

Bolden immediately earned time in the secondary rotation, and played in the majority of Georgia’s coverage packages. Freshmen starting in the secondary is not uncommon for Georgia, and Bolden is next in line to become a star in the defensive back room. Bolden is currently fifth on the team in total tackles with 54. He has one interception, sack and pass deflection as well.

Cole played the least of the three freshmen that earned this honor. Cole, another five star linebacker, started earning more playing time when Smael Mondon was out in the middle of the season. Cole often rotated in with CJ Allen and Raylen Wilson during that time. Cole currently has 16 total tackles and scored a touchdown off of a fumble recovery against UMass in November.
