Dawgs Lose Two Reserve LBs To Transfer Portal
On Friday, backup linebackers Sam M’Pemba and Troy Bowles announced they would be entering the transfer portal after two years in the program.
Georgia loses safety Justyn Rhett to Transfer Portal
Rhett is a former four-star prospect from he 2023 class who saw limited action during the 2024 season in a reserve role. At the time of Rhett’s announcement, Georgia is losing two defensive backs to the transfer portal.
Nitro Tuggle returns to UGA
A day after announcing he would be entering the transfer portal, freshman wideout Nitro Tuggle announced today that he’ll in fact be coming back to Georgia for another season.
Tuggle’s original announcement wasn’t surprising, but after considering his option and knowing there was a chance to have a significant impact next season, Tugge decided to come back to Athens.
Tuggle appeared in seven games this fall, catching three passes for 34 yards. The Bulldogs have had inconsistent receiver play this fall and many expect Tuggle to see a bigger role in the offense next year as a sophomore.

Jamaal Jarrett departs from UGA
However, the Bulldogs did have defensive lineman Jamaal Jarrett enter the transfer portal. The second-year defensive tackle was hoping to make an impact within the first two years of his career, but of course, that never happened. The reserve lineman appeared in just about every game this fall but only made three total tackles. After two seasons, Jarrett knew he had to explore other options as more playing time next year was not guaranteed.
Michael Jackson leaves UGA after limited production in 2024
Former USC and UGA WR Michael Jackson annouced that he was transferring from Georgia. The Las Vegas product had one catch for ten yards with the Bulldogs.
Julian Humphrey kicks off transfer portal from UGA
Former defensive back Julian Humphrey annouced that he was leaving the program the week the Bulldogs are preparing to play in the SEC Championship Game against Texas. Humphrey played in all of the Bulldogs’ first 11 games of the season.
Humphrey, a redshirt sophomore, was a starter for most of the season opposite Daylen Everette until the last few weeks. Sophomore Daniel Harris had firmly taken control of the second cornerback spot after rotating at the spot with Humphrey for the majority of the season.
Smart has recently praised Harris for how much better he has been practicing over the last month. The head coach has been pretty obvious all year about how the young cornerbacks have struggled, and with Harris’ improvement, Humphrey has seen far fewer snaps.
Humphrey finished the season with 10 total tackles and four pass deflections. Georgia has allowed explosive touchdowns all season, and Humphrey was in coverage for a handful of them, including some in key moments like against Ryan Williams’ game-winner. Every Georgia secondary member has been guilty of allowing a score or two this season, however.
The third-year corner completes his Georgia career with 21 total tackles and no interceptions.
