ATHENS - It was a routine morning for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs to kick off the first day of the early Signing Day period.

Commits started to sign, they held off Florida for four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery‍ and held off a late push by Michigan to keep 5-star EDGE Isaiah Gibson‍ on board.

Things were going according to plan.

Then the afternoon came and things went a little sideways. Four-star defensive line target Jeramiah McCloud‍ stuck with his commitment to the Florida Gators instead of flipping to Georgia, and four-star defensive line target Kevin Wynn‍ decided to stick with Florida State.

Around the same time, the Bulldogs lost a commitment from their top running back commitment, four-star Ousmane Kromah‍, who flipped to “The University of FSU”. The Lee County (GA) back had been a firm Georgia commitment until the very end, but that’s when the 2-10 Florida State Seminoles came in late to do whatever they could to flip the powerful South Georgia back.

When it came time to make a decision, Kromah flipped to the ‘Noles, giving Georgia just one running back signee in three-star Bo Walker‍.

Things did not go in Georgia’s favor in that regard, but they’ll still likely sign the nation’s top recruiting class in the 2025 cycle.

Still, losing two targets to Florida State feels odd. A little too odd. But in this era of NIL, nothing official until it’s officially official. If that makes sense.
