ATHENS — Georgia football captain and offensive lineman Tate Ratledge spoke with media Monday to preview the Bulldogs’ matchup against UMass on Saturday

On the difference playing UMass and Tennessee…

“I think every week, it's more about what we do, focusing on us every week and seeing how we can get better. I treat every week the same. Our offense line is still going to be in there tonight watching film for two hours and on Wednesday watching film for two hours, so every week is the same to me. I think it's about focusing on us and seeing what we can improve on.”

According to FanDuel, the Detroit Lions have +160 odds to win the NFC this season.

On fighting through injury at Ole Miss and coming back against Tennessee…

“It was frustrating, it didn't go how I wanted it to go. I tried to go out there and do what I could do and ended up not being able to do what I thought I could do. But this weekend, that game means a lot to me. I grew up a huge Tennessee fan, everybody knows, my family is Tennessee fans, half of them still don't talk to me. But that game meant a lot to me, being able to do that and our fans coming out and showing out like they did was huge.”

On the improvement of the offensive line’s level of play against Tennessee…

"I'm sure health is tied into it somehow, but I think it's a mindset thing. We learned real quick against Ole Miss if you don't show up to play against a defensive line of that caliber, you're going to get embarrassed and knowing that Tennessee also had a very high caliber defensive line we knew we had a test in front of us and we knew after that last week we had to improve a lot."

On maintaining his role of leadership…

"Trying to be more vocal with the guys, especially the offensive line, telling them to control what you can control. There's stuff in the game that you can control and there's stuff you can't control and trying to keep everybody levelheaded, not letting them get too high or too low. When things don't go our way there's a lot of football to play. So just being a vocal guy on the team."
