ATHENS - UGA Football coach Kirby Smart said he expects a full recover for offensive lineman Tate Ratledge

But Ratledge is expected to miss a significant amount of time. The veteran offensive lineman had so-called TightRope surgery this week.

"He’s had TightRope already," Kirby told reporters on Tuesday night. "He’s in the rehab process. He’ll be back as soon as he can. We expect a full recovery.”

That recovery could take until November. The Bulldogs have two weeks off before November, but face Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Texas and the Gators. Georgia dealt with two TightRope surgeries to 1st Round NFL Draft picks last fall.

Kirby confirmed that Amarius Mims would have the surgery a year ago this week, saying: “We have the longest injury list we’ve ever had since being here. Mims’ ankle sprain was bad... He’s gonna have to have tightrope surgery on that. We don’t know how long that will be. He will be back, it's just a matter of how long.”

Brock Bowers had an injury that required the surgery after an injury during Georgia’s win at Vanderbilt. Bowers didn’t play for the Bulldogs for nearly a month. He had the TightRope surgery two days after suffering the injury.

In addition, UGA Football tight end Lawson Luckie had the surgery before the season, and returned during the early part of the year.
