ATHENS - All of the takes, hot or not, are starting to fly in from analysts and experts around the country, and people at ESPN have differing opinions about the top of college football.

Dawg Post shared Paul Finebaum’s strong take about UGA Football earlier this week. He believes that Georgia is unequivocally in its own tier right now. That is high praise, especially so early in the season. There is a lot of football to go.

Kirby Smart has this program in a position where Georgia being at the top is turning into a default opinion, just as it was with Alabama for years. Well, one of Alabama’s former starting quarterbacks from its dominant decade-long run does feel that way about Georgia, but he does not think that the Dawgs are alone.

Texas has looked impressive with a 52-0 win to start the season and a 31-12 road victory over Michigan this past week. People have taken notice. ESPN’s Greg McElroy thinks that Texas has done enough to be placed right next to Georgia in college football’s top tier.

"Texas has officially joined Georgia as one of the most complete teams in the sport," McElroy said. "They looked like a complete team. Fast, physical, well coached."

McElroy opened ESPN’s college football YouTube show with this topic earlier this week. He is not the only former player and current analyst that

There is a little bit of a shift in how people are starting to view the quarterbacks of college football. Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, as Carson Beck is, is off to a hot start.

ESPN’s Booger McFarland made this comment the other day when breaking down Georgia’s game with Tennessee Tech:

“They (Georgia) have the best quarterback in the country, not named Quinn Ewers.”

It is a funny way to say it, but he declared that Ewers is the best quarterback in the country. His numbers are not quite as impressive as Beck’s through two games, but he will be a Heisman candidate if he keeps it up.

Georgia still has to play this upcoming road game with Kentucky. It still has to go on the road to play Alabama of all schools. Yet, this matchup against Texas continues to get hyped up with all of this banter. Georgia and Texas are currently Nos. 1 and 2, and it could be that way on Oct. 19 when the two teams play.
